Onslow School on Thevenard Island
Since 2017, the Onslow School Year 7 and 8s have joined the North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program’s scientists and volunteers on Thevenard Island, monitoring the turtles, excavating nests and learning about conservation science in action.
Mount Lawley Senior High School Bush Rangers on Thevenard Island
In 2023, a group of Year 11 Bush Rangers from Mount Lawley Senior High School journeyed to Thevenard Island to volunteer with the North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program. They engaged in turtle monitoring, nest excavations and retrieved temperature data loggers across the island.
