James has worked for the North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program (NWSFTCP) since 2017. His role includes planning and undertaking flatback turtle monitoring and fieldwork research activities across Western Australia.
With a background in marine science and coastal management, James began his career with the NWSFTCP as a volunteer in 2016, participating in the pilot monitoring of the program's two key index sites: Thevenard Island and Delambre Island. Since then, James manages the annual monitoring of these sites and others, coordinating volunteers and casual field staff, managing data and liaising with regional turtle monitoring programs.
The Government of Western Australia acknowledges the traditional owners throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
