Although the NWSFTCP does not work directly on Kariyarra Country, several of our partners do. The northern extent of North West Shelf flatback turtle nesting beaches is on Kariyarra Country (Cemetery Beach, Port Hedland) as well as Mundabullangana, which is the population’s largest mainland rookery. The NWSFTCP has met with the Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) several times, including presenting to their Board of Directors. The KAC has recently established an Indigenous Ranger Program and the NWSFTCP is currently exploring collaborative and mutually beneficial projects with them.
